It’s been confirmed that The Ghost Whisperer
will jump ahead five years when its fifth season debuts on September 25.
But what, exactly, does this mean? Here’s a detailed (somewhat confusing) look at the upcoming premiere episode, “Birthday Presence.” In the installment…
- Sam has re-invented himself as a physician;
- Melinda’s son, Aiden, is five years old;
- There’s a ghost named Amber Heaton on the prowl, who died during childbirth;
- Her baby, Tyler, was adopted, but Amber believes his body died – and his soul is now in Aiden’s body;
- According to Amber, Tyler now haunts Aiden him every year on his birthday.
NATHAN:- In his early 40s, geek chic, a multi-millionaire software genius a la Steve Jobs, he runs his casual, creative, hip office out of his mansion home. He’s about to release a top-secret new line of software, and needs Eli’s help controlling his anxiety. Nathan is revered and beloved by his employees, but his wealth doesn’t make up for his loneliness and paranoia…GUEST STAR
AMY:- In her late 30s, early 40s, pretty but with a sickly pallor, kind and forgiving, this ghost was Nathan’s girlfriend when they were younger, and she gave birth to his son after they broke up. Instead of telling him, she chose to raise the boy with another man. Twenty years later, she died of breast cancer, and now she’s trying to keep her grown son from doing something desperate and harmful…GUEST STAR

When The Ghost Whisperer returns this fall, the CBS drama will look a bit different. Don’t worry, Jennifer Love Hewitt will still be her gorgeous self. But she may show signs of a gray hair or two.
That’s because the series will jump ahead more than five years. This is mainly meant to speed up the development of Jim and Melinda’s unique son, as producer P.K. Simmons confirmed on his blog this week:
“This season’s big story is going to be driven by Melinda and Jim’s new little guy, Aiden. Carl the Watcher told Melinda that her son would be able to do what she did, “and much, much more” – and he wasn’t lying. From the first episode… it will become apparent what some of those gifts are. And that’s because, yes, we’re jumping five years ahead.”
This can be tricky territory. Let’s hope the show knows what it’s doing.
CAROLYN:- In her late 20s, pretty, kind and understanding, a natural with kids, she is one of Aiden’s teachers at school who’s got her hands full this Halloween. Her father recently passed away after a prolonged fight with Alzheimer’s, and the memories are fresh and painful…GUEST STAR
SEAN:- 20 years old at the time of his death, a strikingly handsome, charming “bad boy” with a sweet side who worked for Carolyn and Erica’s father on his farm. He has now appeared to Melinda and she is having to figure out the mystery surrounding his death (actor must be comfortable on a horse or have experience riding horses)…GUEST STAR
ERICA:- Caroline’s younger sister, in her early 20s, slightly more plain-looking, she feels guilty for not visiting her old family home more often before her father died (actor must be comfortable on a horse or have experience riding horses)…GUEST STAR
